Here at pH Innovate Group, we are proud to celebrate National Apprenticeship Week with an example of how apprenticeships bring value, benefits, and present opportunities within our teams.
Today we spoke with Jacob, the Systems Administrator for our Next Venture Technologies team, about his experience working towards a degree apprenticeship.
“When I joined the Next Venture Technologies team in 2020, I envisioned myself working as an IT technician; troubleshooting problems and fixing hardware. It felt like a practical path that gave me the chance to work with technology on a day-to-day basis.
During my first two years of employment, I started to familiarise myself with our software and how it’s used by our customers. This gave me the context I needed to start investigating how things were working behind the scenes and introduce myself to problem solving using code.
The more time I spent working in this area, the more value and opportunities became apparent to me. This is why I pursued a computing and software apprenticeship degree with the Open University, where I could formalise what I’d started learning in my role. pH Innovate Group supporting me in my apprenticeship has allowed me to balance both work and study, building on what I’m exposed to every day in my job.”
At pH Innovate Group, we believe in the importance of continuous learning and development. Jacob’s journey highlights how an apprenticeship can not only help employees grow professionally but also contribute to the ongoing success of our teams. We look forward to supporting more learners like Jacob and seeing how they continue to shape the future of our business.
